How does AI food recognition work?

Take a photo of your meal and Calorica's AI will analyze it to identify the foods and estimate calories and macronutrients. The photo is sent securely to our AI service for analysis and is not stored after processing. For best results, take clear, well-lit photos with all food items visible.

How accurate are the calorie estimates?

AI-generated calorie and macro estimates are approximations. Accuracy depends on factors like photo clarity, portion size visibility, and food complexity. Barcode scanning tends to be the most accurate method since it pulls data directly from product databases. For the best results, we recommend verifying estimates for meals that are critical to your dietary plan and consulting a registered dietitian for precise guidance.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. To cancel, go to your iPhone's Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions > select Calorica > Cancel Subscription. Your premium access will continue until the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged again after cancellation.

How does HealthKit integration work?

Calorica can read your activity data (steps, active calories, weight, heart rate) from Apple Health to personalize your calorie recommendations. It can also write your logged nutrition data (calories, protein, carbs, fat) to Apple Health. HealthKit integration is entirely optional and you control exactly which data types to share. Your HealthKit data is never sent to our servers or shared with third parties.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account from within the App by going to Profile > Delete Account. This will permanently remove your account data and nutrition logs from our servers and clear local data on your device. Please note that account deletion does not automatically cancel an active subscription — you must cancel your subscription separately through your Apple ID settings.

Is my data safe?

Yes. All data transmissions are encrypted using TLS 1.2+. Food photos and voice inputs are processed in real time and not stored after analysis. We do not use any advertising SDKs or third-party trackers. Your HealthKit data stays on your device and is never shared. For full details, please read our Privacy Policy.
